Honor Kansas State University’s trailblazing athletes through a strategic and branded program, including three installations across campus.
Discovery
We chose the classic and nostalgic feel of trading cards as the primary medium to showcase and honor Kansas State University’s trailblazing athletes, including Tiger Wood’s father who was the first African American baseball player in Kansas State history.
Activation
To launch the Trailblazers program, supersized trading cards featuring trailblazing athletes from basketball, baseball and football appeared on strategic facades within the university’s sports venues. QR codes led sports fans to the stories behind each trailblazer and actual trading cards while actual trading cards were the perfect program extension. The trading card medium gave us a way to utilize photography that was less than quality resolution in an authentic way and an efficient say to keep growing the program in an aesthetically consistent format.
