Challenge
When our old friends Megan and Dino (previously of Cane Rosso) came to us with a dream to open their own restaurant, we jumped at the opportunity to help them bring their vision to life.
Discovery
Inspired by Dino’s hometown of Naples, Italy and its namesake Partenope, a siren of the sea that died of heartbreak, washed ashore and became the town of Naples (or so the legend goes). Some locals even still call the city “Partenope” instead of Naples. Once we had the name, we drew inspiration for the logo from Naples itself, specifically the Spanish Quarter neighborhood, so we decided to take a tour of the city. Since we didn’t have the time to fly all the way to Italy, we took to Google Earth and virtually “drove” through the streets. The primitive street signs really caught our attention, and we created a custom logo font drawn from them. Additionally, we scoured hundreds of ancient texts and drawings to find pictures of sirens and their accoutrement and ended up with a beautiful set of logo icons to be used as a system along with the word mark.
Activation
In September of 2019, the restaurant was opened with our branding leading the vibe of the entire space. The color palette, logo and icons were used throughout the restaurant and were met with much praise from the patrons and neighbors downtown.
Impact
In June of 2022, Partenope Dallas ranked number 17 on a new list of the best pizzerias in the United States.
